1. Overcome my fear
of public speaking?
Practice, practice,
and more practice! The only way to overcome your fear is to confront it. But at Toastmasters, you'll learn and practice in
a friendly and comfortable environment with people who also there for the same reason as you are. With continued participation,
you'll gain confidence that will allow you to apply your skills to make you a better communicator!
2. Improve
my speaking skills?
Toastmasters
can help you to improve your speaking skills by giving you the chance to practice speaking in a variety of ways: table topics,
prepared speeches, debates, viewpoints, conducting a meeting, and many more! Every prepared speaker is also assigned an evaluator
who points out speech strengths and offers suggestions for improvement.
3. Build
leadership skills?
Toastmasters
will help you to build leadership skills by allowing you the chance to conduct and organize meetings, take part in roles such
as Toastmaster, or by serving as a member of the executive.
4. Meet
new people?
You
will meet with your Toastmasters club on a weekly basis for meetings, where you will have the chance to interact with and
meet new people who have the same goals as you do! Toastmasters also hosts contests, conferences, seminars and workshops,
where you will have the chance to meet and talk to some of the best speakers around, who come from all walks of life!
As
a Toastmaster you will also have the opportunity to visit other clubs and meet more people. Some clubs hold social functions
such as parties, potlucks and baseball games to give you more chance to get to know each other and practice your communication
skills!
5. Improve your presentation skills at work?
Toastmasters
